Giannis Antetokounmpo is officially out of the NBA All-Star Game, and San Antonio Spurs guard De'Aaron Fox is now an All-Star.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver selected Fox on Thursday to take the place of the injured Milwaukee Bucks superstar in Sunday's exhibition showcase.

Fox will be on the USA Stripes team, while the Toronto Raptors' Norman Powell will shift from the USA Stripes roster to fill Antetokounmpo's spot on Team World because he has ties to Jamaica.

Antetokounmpo, who hasn't played since January 23 because of a right calf injury, will still attend this weekend's events and help coach in Friday's All-Star Celebrity Game. Last month, the Greek star was selected as an All-Star Game starter for a 10th straight season.

Fox, 28, will be making his second All-Star Game appearance, and first since the 2022-23 season.

In 45 games this season, the 10-year veteran is averaging 19.4 points, 6.3 assists and 3.8 rebounds while shooting 48.4 per cent from the field and 35.4 per cent from 3-point range.

He is the second San Antonio player to be selected to the All-Star Game, along with Victor Wembanyama, who is on the World roster, while Spurs coach Mitch Johnson will coach the USA Stripes team.

The Spurs (38-16) head into the All-Star break 4 1/2 games in front of the Houston Rockets for first place in the Southwest Division and are second in the Western Conference behind the Oklahoma City Thunder.
