'My thumb wasn't where it was supposed to be' - Holmgren defies injury to inspire Thunder
Chet Holmgren defied a thumb injury, insisting "it didn't change my shot" during the Oklahoma City Thunder's victory over the Atlanta Hawks.
Holmgren played a starring role as Oklahoma continued their winning start to the season, going 3-0 after seeing off the Hawks 117-100 at State Farm Arena.
The 23-year-old contributed 31 points, 11 rebounds, three steals and one block, despite playing most of the game with a dislocated thumb and back discomfort.
"Obviously, my thumb wasn't where it was supposed to be," Holmgren said. "I see my thumb every day. It didn't look like it normally does, but it didn't change my shot.
"I'm just happy we were able to come together as a team and not have to go to overtime. It's great."

Meanwhile, Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault paid tribute to Holmgren's competitive spirit.
"He's always got that," Daigneault said. "He's always ready to go, [a] great competitor. He came out tonight, teeing up those shots and saw a couple go in. He had a great game flow tonight."
"We have a team full of fighters, warriors and guys who just love the game at the end of the day," Shai Gilgeous-Alexander added.
"That tone is set every time we walk in the gym, whether it's an off day, a playoff game or a regular-season game. We come in with joy, and we come in to compete every night. That's just a tone set across the locker room."
