WNBA-worst Wings fire head coach Koclanes
The Dallas Wings fired head coach Chris Koclanes on Tuesday after going 10-34 in his only season with the team.
Koclanes was an assistant coach with the Connecticut Sun (2019-22), Los Angeles Sparks (2023) and University of Southern California (2023-24) before being hired by Dallas last December.
The Wings had the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA draft and selected Paige Bueckers, who went on to win Rookie of the Year honours, but they got off to a 1-11 start and won just twice in their last 17 games.
"With new team facilities being built, a youthful roster under contract, and the rights to three first-round draft selections over the next two seasons, including a lottery pick in 2026, the Wings are well-positioned for future success," executive vice president and general manager Curt Miller said in a statement.
"As we enter a pivotal point in our team's future, we felt a change in leadership at this time was best for our organization."
