Timberwolves star Edwards expected to play in Game 1 vs. Spurs
When Antony Edwards injured his left knee in Game 4 of a first-round play-off series, the Minnesota Timberwolves expected to be without their leading scorer for multiple weeks.
It turns out, his absence will be just two games.
The Timberwolves star is expected to play in Game 1 of the Western Conference semi-final series against the second-seeded San Antonio Spurs on Monday, according to Shams Charania of ESPN.
Edwards has been medically cleared and will go through his pre-game routine with the intentions of playing after being a "significant participant" in the team's shootaround Monday morning, per reports.

Edwards was diagnosed with a bone bruise last Sunday, a day after he sustained the injury in Minnesota's 112-96 win over the Denver Nuggets, which gave the Timberwolves a 3-1 series lead.
Testing revealed Edwards did not suffer any ligament damage to his knee, but he was still expected to be sidelined into the middle of the conference semi-final, should Minnesota advance.
The Timberwolves ended up dispatching Denver in six games.
A four-time All-Star, Edwards ranked third in the NBA in scoring this past regular season, averaging a career-high 28.8 points. He shot 48.9 per cent and also averaged 4.9 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 3.4 made 3-pointers per game.
His top scoring performance of his career came at San Antono on January 17, when he poured in 55 points in a 126-123 loss.
That was the Timberwolves' only defeat in three games against the Spurs this past regular season.
