Saints reportedly expected to hire Moore as coach
The NFL's last head coaching vacancy is about to be filled.
The New Orleans Saints reportedly will hire Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore to be their coach.
The official announcement is expected to come Monday after the Eagles play the Kansas City Chiefs in Sunday's Super Bowl, according to multiple reports.
Moore, 36, was hired by the Eagles prior to the start of the 2024 season, and he helped direct an offence that ranked seventh in scoring (27.2 per game) and eighth in total yards (367.2 per game).
The Saints totaled 91 points in winning their first two games, but went just 3-12 the rest of the way while averaging 16.5 points in those contests. They finished last in the NFC South for the first time since 2008, and haven't made the play-offs since 2020.
New Orleans fired Dennis Allen after nine games and his replacement, Darren Rizzi, went 3-5 as his stint as interim coach.
This will be the first head-coaching job for Moore, who served as the Dallas Cowboys' offensive coordinator from 2019-2022 before taking over the same role for the Los Angeles Chargers in 2023.
Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore is expected to become the New Orleans Saints’ head coach, barring any unexpected developments, per league sources.https://t.co/cTjRsO4JFv
