Rams keep Matthew Stafford on restructured contract
Matthew Stafford is staying with the Los Angeles Rams, after all.
The Rams agreed to a restructured contract with their Super Bowl-winning quarterback, the team announced Friday, ending speculation about a possible trade.
Los Angeles reportedly gave Stafford permission to discuss the possibility of a trade with other teams last week.
Stafford had been linked to the New York Giants and Las Vegas Raiders. Multiple media outlets reported that Stafford travelled to Montana to meet with Tom Brady, who is a partial owner of the Raiders.
With Stafford staying put, the Raiders and Giants will have to look elsewhere to fix their quarterback woes.

The terms of his new contract have not been released, but Stafford had two years remaining on his previous deal. He carried an estimated salary cap hit of $49.7million this season and $53.7million in 2026 on his previous contract.
Stafford, 37, was traded to the Rams before the 2021 season, which ended with the franchise’s first Super Bowl title.
Stafford threw for 3,762 yards with 20 touchdowns and eight interceptions last season.
