First Aaron Rodgers, and now Davante Adams.

The New York Jets will have a new quarterback-receiver combo in 2025 after releasing Adams on Tuesday, unable to find a trade partner for the star wideout.

The six-time Pro Bowler is now one of the top free agent receivers, and will be able to sign with whatever team he prefers - possibly even re-uniting with Rodgers.

New York announced on Feb. 13 it was parting ways with Rodgers - Adams' long-time teammate - after two tumultuous seasons.

The decision to cut Adams will save the Jets almost $30million in salary cap space, while costing them approximately $8million in dead-cap money.

Acquired from the Las Vegas Raiders last October, Adams played 11 games for the Jets with Rodgers, catching 67 passes for 854 yards with seven touchdowns.

Their pairing didn't lead to many wins, however, and the Jets went just 5-12 last season, leading the team to make a change at general manager and coach, with new GM Darren Mougey and new coach Aaron Glenn deciding to overhaul the roster. New York has the seventh pick in next month's draft.

Adams, 32, began his career with the Packers in 2014 with Rodgers, and the two spent eight seasons together in Green Bay before Adams was traded to the Raiders prior to the 2022 season.

Adams and Rodgers have combined for 83 total touchdowns - the third-highest total between a QB and receiver in NFL history.

A three-time All-Pro, Adams finished the 2024 season with 85 receptions for 1,063 yards and eight TDs for his fifth straight 1,000-yard season.

Since his 2014 rookie season, Adams ranks first among all receivers with 957 catches, second in touchdown receptions with 103 and third in yards with 11,844 yards.
