The Los Angeles Rams have informed Cooper Kupp that they intend to trade him this offseason, an unwelcome development for the former All-Pro wide receiver.

Kupp posted the news on social media on Monday, saying the club “will be seeking a trade immediately and will be working with me and my family to find the right place to continue competing for championships.”

Kupp expressed his disappointment that he seemingly wouldn’t be able to finish his career in Los Angeles.

“I don't agree with the decision and always believed it was going to begin and end in LA,” Kupp’s post read. “Still, if there's one thing that I have learned over the years: there are so many things that are out of your control, but it is how you respond to these things that you will look back on and remember.”

The Rams have not released a statement of their own regarding Kupp.

Kupp has spent each of his eight NFL seasons with the Rams but carries a salary cap hit of nearly $30million next season.

Los Angeles reportedly entertained the idea of trading Kupp after a 1-4 start last season but allowed him to finish the year with the Rams.

A former third-round pick out of Eastern Washington, Kupp went on to have one of the best seasons by a receiver in NFL history in 2021.

Kupp won the receiving triple crown that year with 145 catches for 1,947 yards and 16 touchdowns, earning him Offensive Player of the Year honours.

He added 478 yards and six touchdowns in four play-off games and was voted Super Bowl LVI MVP.

Since that prolific season, however, Kupp has struggled to stay on the field consistently, and his production has dipped as fellow receiver Puka Nacua has been featured more often.

Kupp finished 2024 with 67 receptions for 710 yards and six touchdowns in 12 games.
