Pakistan hold nerve to edge to series victory over Australia
Despite a low-scoring affair in Lahore, Pakistan edged to a four-wicket victory to clinch their third straight ODI series win over Australia on Thursday.
Australia reached 157 all out by the end of the 42nd over, despite being led by Josh Inglis' 65, and Pakistan reached their target with 49 balls to spare after a patient display.
Despite Shaheen Afridi (3-30) dismissing Matt Short for a duck on the second ball, Inglis got Australia off to a steady start with his 65 off 71 balls.
However, the tourists struggled to match his high-scoring total, with Marnus Labuschagne (19) and Alex Carey (19) the next top scorers, and following Inglis being caught, Australia lost seven for 38 in a disappointing finish.
Maaz Sadaqat came flying out of the blocks for Pakistan in the chase, with a rapid-fire 27 off 26 before being trapped lbw by Matt Short.
Matthew Kuhnemann (3-38) kept up a steady stream of wickets, taking Muhammad Ghazi Ghori (8) and Salman Ali Agha (15) before finally getting the better of Babar Azam (40) in the 30th over.
But a strong finish, led by Shadab Khan, who struck the winning four to take his total up to 29 and get Pakistan over the line at 161-6.

Pakistan on a roll as they step up World Cup prep
Pakistan have now won their last three multi-game bilateral men's ODI series against Australia, more than they logged across their nine such series in the format against them before (W2 L7).
And Pakistan have won nine of their last 10 multi-game bilateral men's ODI series in Pakistan (L1), including each of their last three; their only series defeat at home in that span was a 1-2 loss against New Zealand in January 2023.
There were positives for Australia to take from the series, having clawed their way back level in the second match. And Matt Renshaw struck for his first ODI wicket, having Arafat Minhas held at slip.
Pakistan had cause to celebrate as well as Shadab's wicketless patch finally ended after five ODIs, and more than 300 deliveries, and he finished on 2-28.
