India slumped to their heaviest defeat in a T20I match as Jofra Archer and Josh Tongue's fine bowling display helped England secure an emphatic 125-run victory on Tuesday.

England set India a target of 202, but the tourists were skittled out for just 76 as Archer and Tongue shared seven wickets apiece to give their team a 2-0 lead in the series.

Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to bowl first at Trent Bridge, but England started strongly with opening pair Phil Salt (70) and Jos Buttler (36) before the latter was dismissed by Prince Yadav in the sixth over.

Harry Brook joined Salt at the crease but managed just 16 off 12 deliveries before Jacob Bethell, the hero from their four-wicket win at Old Trafford, was caught out on 13.

Tom Banton (0) quickly followed before Axar Patel (1-49) brought Salt's innings to an end in the 17th over, but England were able to get themselves to 201-7, helped by Sam Curran's unbeaten 41 as well as a quickfire 14 from Will Jacks.

However, India started brightly in their chase, with Abhishek Sharma and teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi both hitting Archer and Tongue for six in the early exchanges.

But that was about as good as it got for India, with the quick wickets of Sharma (10), Sooryavanshi (13), Ishan Kishan (13), Iyer (5) and Patel (10) leaving them reeling at 52-5 by the beginning of the sixth over.

And that damage proved too big to repair for India, with the rest of their remaining batting order failing to get above double figures, as Tongue claimed the wickets of Harshit Rana (9) and Shivam Dube (2) before Adil Rashid chipped in with two wickets of his own to seal the win after just 11.4 overs.

England go back-to-back as India's T20 woes continue

Following a four-wicket victory last time out, England delivered a sensational performance with both the bat and ball to ensure an unassailable 2-0 lead in their series against India, having seen the opening match at the Riverside Ground washed out.

And their victory here ensured they won consecutive wins in men's T20Is against India for the first time since November 2022, while also inflicting an unwanted record on India as captain Iyer's difficult start continued.

India were bowled out for 76, their second-lowest T20I score, after managing just 74 against Australia in 2008, though this was significantly their largest margin of defeat in terms of runs, despite arriving in Ireland 10 days ago with a record of 16 T20I series/tournaments in a row unbeaten.

They have now lost their last four men's T20Is away from home, equalling their longest losing run on the road in the format, having also lost four between July and October 2021, with all eyes on the Hampshire Bowl this Saturday.
