Pakistan clinch Bangladesh series after Farhan, Nawaz and Abrar heroics
Pakistan clinched their first T20I series victory at home in three years after beating Bangladesh by 57 runs in their second game in Lahore on Friday.
Sahibzada Farhan and Hasan Nawaz plundered half-centuries to set up Pakistan's 201-6, before Abrar Ahmed's three wickets saw Bangladesh fall short of their run chase.
Farhan, though, had a bit of luck in the first over when Tanzid Hasan couldn't latch on to his top edge, which proved costly for the tourists.
He launched Mehidy Hasan Miraz for two successive sixes in the third over, before slamming Hasan Mahmud for two fours and a six in the following over.
Farhan's 67-run partnership with Mohammad Haris (41) in the powerplay equalled Pakistan's highest against Bangladesh, which came back in 2007 in Nairobi.
The Pakistan talisman struck two more sixes off Rishad Hossain, before Tanzim Hasan Sakib (2-36) broke the 103-run second wicket stand in the 11th over.
Salman Agha (19), Shadab Khan (seven) and Faheem Ashraf (one) got Pakistan over the 200-run mark, but Bangladesh made a promising start at the crease.
Hasan struck 17 runs from the first over of their chase, keeping up the pressure against Hasan Ali, who went for 15 in the second over.
But after he was dismissed in the fifth over, Bangladesh struggled to regain momentum, with Abrar Ahmed (3-19) ripping through the middle order.
Abrar spun one through Towhid Hridoy's defence as he fell for five, before trapping Jaker Ali lbw the following ball.
Shamim Hossain staved off the hat-trick ball but struck one down Saim Ayub's throat at deep midwicket in Abrar's next over, with Pakistan cruising to victory from then on.

Data Debrief: Pakistan stop the rot
In just the third multigame bilateral men's T20I series between the two sides, Pakistan maintained their perfect record against Bangladesh, following up their wins in 2020 and 2021 with another impressive display on Friday.
Indeed, it also saw them win a T20 series for the first time since a 2-1 victory against Zimbabwe in December 2024 after a run of five straight defeats.
And despite defeat, there was history for Bangladesh's Hasan Sakib. His maiden T20I fifty saw him become the first batter to score a half-century from number nine or lower in T20Is for a Full Member nation.
