NFL star defensive end Garrett requests trade from Browns
Myles Garrett wants to win a Super Bowl, and the star defensive end does not see that happening with the Cleveland Browns.
Garrett has requested to be traded from the Browns, according to a statement he shared with multiple media services on Monday.
Garrett is coming off another sensational season and was selected to his sixth Pro Bowl after recording an NFL-high and a career-best 22 tackles for loss in 2024, along with 14 sacks to become the first player in NFL history with four consecutive seasons with at least 14 sacks.
The Browns, however, finished last in the AFC North with a 3-14 record, and the 2023 NFL Defensive Player of the Year said he does not want to be part of a rebuild and wants to play for a Super Bowl title.
"As a kid dreaming of the NFL, all I focused on was the ultimate goal of winning a Super Bowl - and that goal fuels me today more than ever," Garrett wrote.
He went on to say that winning a Super Bowl means more to him than becoming a Hall of Famer and to achieve that goal, a trade out of Cleveland is necessary.
"The goal was never to go from Cleveland to Canton, it has always been to compete for and win a Super Bowl," his statement read.
"With that in mind, I have requested to be traded from the Cleveland Browns."

Selected first overall by the Browns in the 2017 draft, the 29-year-old Garrett has 102 1/2 sacks and 116 tackles for loss during his eight seasons with Cleveland. Since his 2017 rookie season, only the Pittsburgh Steelers' T.J. Watt has more sacks with 108.
A four-time, first-team All-Pro, Garrett has recorded double-digits in sacks in every season but his rookie year and is considered by many to be one of the top edge rushers in the NFL.
Despite being one of the premier defensive players in the league, Garrett's talents have mostly been wasted on a Browns team that has had just two winning seasons during his time in Cleveland.
Just last week, Browns general manager Andrew Berry said he was not planning to trade Garrett and would like to sign him to a contract extension.
Garrett still has two years remaining on a five-year, $125million extension he signed with the Browns in 2020.
