Kings relieved after snapping 16-game losing streak
Sacramento Kings coach Doug Christie and veteran DeMar DeRozan expressed their relief after ending their franchise record losing streak in the NBA.
The Kings defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 123-114 on Monday at the FedEx Forum, bringing an end to their 16-game slide in the league.
It marked Sacramento's first win since January 16, which came against the Washington Wizards, with their previous longest losing run amounting to just 14 games.
Russell Westbrook starred in the win, scoring a game-high 25 points and providing seven assists, while Precious Achiuwa recorded 22 points and 12 rebounds for the Kings.
"Obviously, you do not want that with your name," Christie said of the losing streak. "But there are points in this where I'm really proud of how our guys continued to evolve."
"We've had this opportunity to get through it many, many times.
"Sometimes, it just keeps getting you, and then in your head you're thinking: 'When's that moment going to come?'"

DeRozan added: "Nobody wants to lose, especially the streak that we were on. I just felt good to get that monkey off your back."
The Kings' 13-46 record on the season leaves them bottom of the Western Conference, and perhaps eyeing a lottery pick in the 2026 NBA Draft rather than a late play-off push.
Nevertheless, rookie Maxime Reynaud, who recorded a 10-point, 13-rebound double-double in the win, is eager to build a winning run.
"It gives us a good momentum," said the rookie center on the victory. "On top of that, it lifts the spirits up a little bit.
"I'm glad that we finally broke it, and hopefully, we can start a winning streak the other way."
