Eagles rule QB Hurts out vs. Cowboys
The Philadelphia Eagles will be without Jalen Hurts for Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys due to a concussion the quarterback sustained against the Washington Commanders last week.
Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni announced Friday that Hurts is still in the NFL's concussion protocol and is unlikely to play this weekend. The two-time Pro Bowler was then officially declared out when the team released its injury report later in the day.
"It's going to be tough for him to make it this week," Sirianni told reporters prior to Friday's practice.
Hurts was forced out of last Sunday's game against Washington, a 36-33 loss that snapped the NFC East-leading Eagles' franchise-record 10-game winning streak, in the first quarter and was not cleared to practice during the week.
Kenny Pickett replaced Hurts last week and is in line to start Sunday as the Eagles try to clinch the division title. Philadelphia (12-3) is two games ahead of second-place Washington in the NFC East with two games remaining.
Nick Sirianni says Jalen Hurts remains in concussion protocol and “It’s going to be tough for him to make it this week.”

Pickett will be making his first start as an Eagle but the 25th of his career. The New Jersey native went 14-10 over two seasons with Pittsburgh after being taken by the Steelers in the first round of the 2022 draft.
The 26-year-old Pickett completed 15 of 27 passes for 148 yards with one touchdown and one interception after taking over for Hurts last week.
“It's a big opportunity,” Pickett said following Thursday's practice. “I've been working hard to stay ready. I felt like I was in a good position last game with my preparation. Now, having a week to practice, I'll feel even better going into the stadium.”
The Eagles acquired Pickett, who sustained a rib injury against Washington but was a full participant in Thursday's practice, from the Steelers in March following Pittsburgh's signing of veteran quarterback Russell Wilson.
In 25 career games with the Steelers, Pickett completed 62.6 per cent of his passes while throwing for 4,474 yards with 13 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.
