Brathwaite dropped by West Indies for India Tests
Former West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite has been dropped from their Test squad ahead of their two-match series against India.
West Indies announced their 15-player squad for the upcoming series in Asia, which starts on October 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Brathwaite, who has 100 Test caps to his name and 5950 runs in the format, was left out of the travelling squad after a disappointing performance in their 3-0 defeat to Australia earlier in the year.
He scored just 15 runs across four innings in the first two matches of the series before he was left out of the team for the final Test, where West Indies were bowled out for 27 in the final innings.
Brathwaite averages 32.51 in his Test career, scoring 12 centuries for West Indies, but the 32-year-old averages just 12.37 in the longest format in 2025.

In hopes of strengthening their top order, West Indies have called up Tagenarine Chanderpaul and Alick Athanaze, while left-arm spinner Khary Pierre is also set to take part.
"The return of Tagenarine Chanderpaul is to help transform our fortunes at the top of the order given the recent struggles, with Alick Athanaze being added for his strengths and qualities against spin bowling," head coach Daren Sammy said in a statement.
"Khary is included for the first time as our second spinner in what we expect to be helpful conditions."
Chanderpaul is likely to replace Brathwaite at the top of the batting order. He has scored 560 Test runs in 10 matches, but has not featured at this level since January 2024.
