Australia spinners on form as Davies and Zampa tear Bangladesh apart
Australia's spinners dismissed nine between them as they began their three-match T20I series in Bangladesh with a four-wicket triumph in Chattogram.
Debutant Joel Davies joined Adam Zampa in taking three wickets each, while Matt Renshaw scalped two and Nikhil Chaudhary claimed one as Bangladesh were skittled for 131.
Both Bangladesh openers – Saif Hassan (20) and Tanzid Hasan (10) – were dismissed during the powerplay, and Mahedi Hasan's unbeaten 29 made him the only home batter to score above 20 runs.
And though Australia's chase was not initially straightforward, with Shoriful Islam removing Josh Inglis (5) and catching Mitchell Marsh (13) to drop them to 38-2, they would ultimately get the job done with 10 balls to spare.
Fresh off an ODI century last week, Cooper Connolly slammed 47 off 27 deliveries, achieving his highest T20I score, before he was caught by Shoriful while attempting a big heave for his first half-century in the format, off the bowling of Abdul Gaffar Saqlain.
But that was only a minor setback as Australia cruised over the line, with Tim David (20) displaying some big hitting, albeit in a brief appearance, before Xavier Bartlett slammed a four off the first ball he faced to drag the tourists to 133-6.

Spin gets the job done for Australia
Having gone down 2-1 in the teams' ODI series last week, Australia were determined to avoid a repeat showing in the shorter format.
And in the end, they could get away with flat performances from many of their batsmen, after their spinners tore Bangladesh to shreds.
It was the first time that nine wickets had been taken by spinners within a single innings in a T20I match in Bangladesh, with Spencer Johnson the only Aussie paceman to get in on the act.
Among the spin group, there was a landmark achievement for Zampa, who became the first Australian to reach 150 T20I wickets, while Davies enjoyed a fruitful debut.
He wasted no time in making an impact, taking his first international wicket from just the second ball he bowled, to Parvez Hossain Emon.
Australia will now look to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series on Friday, and after one more 20-over contest on Sunday, the tour concludes with two Test matches.
