76ers rookie Edgecombe highlights trust as key factor behind win over Celtics
Philadelphia 76ers rookie VJ Edgecombe believes the trust between his team-mates was key to their victory over the Boston Celtics on Tuesday.
The 76ers levelled their Eastern Conference first-round series 1-1 at TD Garden, with Edgecombe playing a starring role in Boston.
Edgecombe scored 30 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, becoming the first rookie to record those numbers in a play-off game since Tim Duncan in May 1998.
The 20-year-old is also the youngest player to record a 30-point, 10-rebound game in the postseason, surpassing the previous record held by Magic Johnson.
Edgecombe made six of his 10 attempted 3-pointers and said his team-mates gave him the confidence to shoot.
"I'm going to be honest, I think we all knew where the shots were going to come from," Edgecombe said.
"We knew where we were going to get the shots from, where the help was going to be at. So just credit my teammates for just, we kept trusting each other.
"Everyone can make a play on the court, so we kept trusting each other and I was in the spot and they wanted me to shoot the ball.
"It wouldn't have been right if I didn't shoot the ball, so I had to shoot the ball, hit wide-open shots and try to get my teammates assists."

Tyrese Maxey also contributed with 29 points and nine assists to get Philadelphia over the line, though it was Edgecombe who received praise from forward Paul George.
"I mean, [Edgecombe has] been impressive all season long," said George, who added 19 points.
"When you think about it, how he started his first NBA game here in this building, and I'm sure he was in a small percentage, or a small group of players that did what he did on opening night.
"Then to put a whole season together and get to this point where he's showcasing who he is and his abilities.
"I've been saying it all year long: He's far surpassed being a rookie."
