West Indies posted the highest team score at the 2026 T20 World Cup so far, as they stormed to a huge 107-run victory over Zimbabwe in the Super 8s.

Their whopping 254-6 was the second-highest total registered in the tournament's history, and Zimbabwe struggled to mount much of a fightback.

Despite losing both Brandon King (9) and Shai Hope (14) in the power play, West Indies were already in total control at 54-2, with Shimron Hetmyer and Rovman Powell then combining for a 122-run partnership for the third wicket.

Hetmyer plundered seven boundaries and seven maximums in his knock of 85, with Powell adding 59 as Zimbabwe struggled to contain the duo.

Sherfane Rutherford's unbeaten 31 propelled them even further as they posted a daunting target, with the help of Romario Shepherd's 21.

And Zimbabwe immediately faltered, dropping to 20-3 in the third over, with Akeal Hosein (3-28) leading the charge.

Dion Myers (28) and Sikandar Raza (27) steadied the ship somewhat before Gudakesh Motie (4-28) halted their stands, and even with a late flurry from Brad Evans, who hit five sixes, Zimbabwe fell well short of their target as they were bowled out with 20 balls to go.

Data Debrief: Windies show their strength

254-6 is the second-highest total in the history of the T20 World Cup, with only Sri Lanka's 260-6 against Kenya in 2007 bettering that score.

It is also the Windies' third-highest total in men's T20Is, after 258-5 vs South Africa (March 2023) and 256-5 vs Ireland (June 2025).

And Hetmyer's 85 at a 250 strike rate was the best figure by any West Indies batter when scoring 50+ at the tournament, with his 14 boundaries the joint third-most for the nation in an innings behind Henry Gayle (17 v South Africa, 16 v England).

With the ball, Hosein became just the second West Indies bowler after Ravi Rampaul (vs England in 2012) to register a double-wicket maiden over in a T20 World Cup game.
