Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had 34 points and a season-high 13 assists to lead the NBA-best Oklahoma City Thunder to a 121-111 wire-to-wire win over the Denver Nuggets in a showdown of the top two teams in the Western Conference.

In the first meeting between the teams since the Thunder eliminated the Nuggets in Game 7 of the West semi-finals last season, defending NBA champion Oklahoma City (39-11) also got six rebounds from Gilgeous-Alexander – the reigning league and NBA Finals MVP.

Cason Wallace set career highs with 27 points and seven three-pointers to help the Thunder beat Denver for the sixth time in the last eight regular-season matchups between the Northwest Division rivals.

The Nuggets (33-17) fell six games behind Oklahoma City in the West and into third place in the conference behind San Antonio (33-16) after the Spurs beat the Orlando Magic 112-103.

Peyton Watson scored 29 points for Denver and three-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic added 16 points, eight assists and seven rebounds in 29 minutes in his second game back after missing 16 contests with a hyperextended left knee.

Pistons beat Nets by 53 points to set team mark

The Eastern Conference-leading Detroit Pistons set a franchise record for largest margin of victory with a 130-77 dismantling of the Brooklyn Nets.

The 53-point win surpassed Detroit’s previous team mark by one point, a 118-66 victory over the Boston Celtics on January 31, 2003.

Jalen Duren, selected to his first All-Star Game on Sunday as a reserve, led the Pistons (36-12) with 21 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and two steals in just 24 minutes.

All-Star starter Cade Cunningham contributed 18 points, 12 assists, four steals and three blocks in 26 minutes as the Pistons won for the 11th time in 14 games.

Brooklyn (13-35) suffered another humbling defeat after falling by 54 points to the New York Knicks on January 21 in the second-worst loss in franchise history.

The Nets have dropped 16 of 19, with six of those defeats coming by at least 20 points.

Knicks get past Lakers for sixth straight win

The New York Knicks matched a season high with their sixth consecutive victory as OG Anunoby scored 25 points and pulled down eight rebounds in a 112-100 win over the Los Angeles Lakers.

New York (31-18), who also won six in a row from December 3-18, are beating opponents by an average of 23.7 points during their current run.

Landry Shamet came off the Knicks' bench to score 23 points and hit six three-pointers, Josh Hart added 20 points and All-Star Game starter Jalen Brunson set a season high with 13 assists.

The Lakers (29-19) were led by their own All-Star starter, with Luka Doncic barely missing his seventh triple-double of the season with 30 points, 15 rebounds and eight assists.

LeBron James, named an All-Star reserve Sunday to extend his record selection streak to 22 years, added 22 points, six assists and five boards.
