NBA: Spurs, Knicks, Wolves keep rolling
The San Antonio Spurs pushed their winning streak to six games on Sunday as De’Aaron Fox scored 27 points to lead the NBA Cup runners-up to a 124-113 victory over the league-worst Washington Wizards.
Excluding Tuesday’s loss in the NBA Cup final to the New York Knicks, which doesn't count toward the regular-season standings, San Antonio (21-7) have won 13 of their last 16 contests and own the second-best record in the Western Conference behind the defending NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder (25-3).
Luke Kornet, who has remained in the Spurs’ starting lineup despite Victor Wembanyama returning from injury last weekend, had a season-high 20 points and matched a season best with 12 rebounds.
Stephon Castle added 18 points, 11 assists, five rebounds and three steals, and Wembanyama - who has come off the bench in San Antonio’s last four games after missing 12 contests with a calf injury - contributed 14 points and 12 boards.
Bub Carrington had 21 points, five rebounds and four assists for Washington, who fell to 5-22 and failed to record consecutive wins for the first time this season after defeating the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday.

Brunson’s 47 points lift NBA Cup champion Knicks
Jalen Brunson set a season high with 47 points to lead NBA Cup champion New York to a 132-125 win over the reeling Miami Heat.
Including Tuesday’s win over San Antonio in the NBA Cup final, which isn’t part of the regular-season standings, New York (20-8) have won 12 of 14 and sit second in the Eastern Conference standings behind the Detroit Pistons (22-6).
Brunson hit six three-pointers and added eight assists, while Mikal Bridges also knocked down six threes and scored 24 points.
Second-year center Kel’el Ware had a huge game for the Heat (15-14) with a career-high 28 points and 19 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough as Miami lost for the seventh time in eight games after a stretch of seven wins in eight contests.

Edwards helps Timberwolves remain hot
Anthony Edwards scored 24 points to lead six Minnesota players in double figures, and the surging Timberwolves rallied in the second half to defeat the Milwaukee Bucks 103-100.
Two days after handing the Thunder just their third loss of the season, Minnesota (19-10) trailed Milwaukee by 16 points early in the third quarter before storming back for their ninth victory in 11 contests.
Donte DiVincenzo had 18 points and Rudy Gobert scored 11 to go along with a season-high-tying 18 rebounds for the Timberwolves, who managed to pull out the win despite shooting 42.5 per cent overall and missing eight of 23 free-throw attempts.
The Bucks (11-18) shot even worse, making 40.2 per cent of their field-goal attempts and going 13 of 45 (28.9 per cent) from three-point range.
Kevin Porter Jr. led the way with 24 points, 10 rebounds, nine assists and four steals as Milwaukee fell for the fifth time in six games since losing two-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo to a calf strain earlier this month.
The Bucks are 9-8 with Antetokounmpo in the lineup this season and 2-10 without the nine-time All-Star.
