
NBA: Gilgeous-Alexander leads Thunder to 11th straight victory
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had 37 points and eight assists, and the Oklahoma City Thunder held on to beat the Phoenix Suns 123-119 on Friday night to reach the knockout round of the NBA Cup.
Gilgeous-Alexander scored 15 points in the final seven minutes on 4-of-5 shooting to help the defending champion Thunder win their 11th straight and become the fifth team in NBA history to start 19-1. They finished 4-0 in West Group A.
Chet Holmgren had 23 points and eight rebounds for Oklahoma City.
Jalen Williams had 11 points and eight assists in his season debut following wrist surgery. He played 29 minutes and made 3 of 12 shots. The All-Star guard/forward had surgery in July to repair a torn ligament in his right wrist and a follow-up procedure to remove a screw that was causing irritation.
Gilgeous-Alexander has scored at least 20 points in 92 consecutive games, matching Wilt Chamberlain for the second-longest streak in NBA history. Chamberlain is first with 126 straight games.
Collin Gillespie scored 24 points for Phoenix, which also advanced to the round of eight. Devin Booker had 21 and eight rebounds, and Dillon Brooks had 19 points.

Reaves, Lakers spoil Davis' return
Austin Reaves scored 38 points, Luka Doncic added 35 points and 11 assists in his third meeting with his former team, and the surging Lakers spoiled Anthony Davis' return to Los Angeles with a 129-119 victory over the Dallas Mavericks.
Davis had 13 points and five rebounds while on a minute restriction in his first game in Los Angeles since the Lakers traded him for Doncic 10 months ago.
Reaves scored 19 points, and Doncic added 17 in an impressive second half, allowing the Lakers to hold on for their sixth consecutive victory. They also swept four games of NBA Cup group play, earning a home quarterfinal.
LeBron James scored 13 points after managing just two in the first half, but he hit a decisive 3-pointer with two minutes to play. Reaves hit six 3-pointers, and Doncic made four.
P.J. Washington scored 22 points, and Ryan Nembhard added 17 for Dallas, while Max Christie scored 13 points against his former team. Rookie Cooper Flagg had 13 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds, but the Mavericks lost for the fifth time in six games despite a noticeable improvement on their recent play with Davis' return.

Knicks overcome Antetokounmpo's return
Jalen Brunson scored 37 points, and the New York Knicks advanced to the knockout round of the NBA Cup, beating the struggling Milwaukee Bucks 118-109 in Giannis Antetokounmpo's return from a groin injury.
Miles McBride added 19 points, including two 3-pointers in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter, to put the Knicks ahead by 13. New York went 3-1 to win East Group C.
Josh Hart had 19 points, 15 rebounds and seven assists in his third game back in the starting lineup.
Antetokounmpo finished with 30 points, 15 rebounds and eight assists in 28 minutes after missing four games with a groin strain.
Kyle Kuzma added 20 points as Milwaukee lost its seventh straight overall and was eliminated from the tournament with a 2-2 record in group play. A.J. Green finished with 18 points for the Bucks, who shot 52.1% and made 18 3-pointers.
Brunson had his third 30-point game since returning from a two-game absence due to a right ankle sprain. He made 7 of 8 shots in the third, when the Knicks turned a one-point halftime deficit into a four-point lead.
