Gilgeous-Alexander, Jokic, Wembanyama headline First-Team All-NBA
Winner Shai Gilgeoous-Alexander and fellow MVP finalists Nikola Jokic and Victor Wembanyama headline the First Team All-NBA, the league announced on Sunday.
Rounding out the first team are Luka Doncic and Cade Cunningham after both players were initially not eligible for NBA awards due to injuries but were granted exceptions by the league and players’ association to qualify.
Gilgeous-Alexander is on the first team for the fourth consecutive season, Jokic received the honour for the fifth time, while Wembanyama and Cunningham are first-timers.
Doncic is a first-team selection for the sixth time, making him the first player in league history to earn six first team honours by age 27 or younger and the 22nd overall player to receive six or more first team selections in a career.
The second team consists of Jaylen Brown, Kawhi Leonard, Donovan Mitchell, Kevin Durant and Jalen Brunson.
Tyrese Maxey, Jamal Murray, Jalen Johnson, Jalen Duren and Chet Holmgren were named to the third team.
A handful of notable players were not eligible for All-NBA honours this year, including Giannis Antetokounmpo, Stephen Curry, LeBron James and Anthony Edwards after they all failed to meet the minimum games requirement.
