India pulled off the highest successful chase of the 2025 Asia Cup so far, after earning a six-wicket win over Pakistan in the Super Fours.

Pakistan set a total of 171-5, though they could have had more after a disappointing second half to their innings, and India capitalised on that missed opportunity.

Pakistan started strongly, with Sahibzada Farhan (58) and Saim Ayub (21) putting together a 72-run partnership for the second wicket after Fakhar Zaman's early dismissal.

Shivam Dube (2-33) dismissed the latter midway through the 11th over, beginning a stuttering period for Pakistan, who managed just 80 runs in the final 10 overs.

After 39 legal balls without a boundary heading into the death overs, Pakistan at least finished strongly, with Salman Ali Agha (17 not out) and Faheem Ashraf (20 not out) helping propel them to their final tally.

India were up for the chase from the off, with Abhishek Sharma (74 off 39 balls) and Shubman Gill (47) combining for 105 before Faheem Ashraf sent stumps flying to dismiss the latter at the end of the 10th over.

Their free-flowing start dried up somewhat when Abhishek was caught by Haris Rauf on 123, but Tilak Varma got India over the line with his 30, hitting a maximum and a boundary from his final two balls to take India to 174-4 with seven balls to spare.

Data Debrief: Strong Pakistan start not enough

Pakistan managed their highest T20I score while batting first against India, but they will rue a missed chance to get their first 200-plus total against them.

In fact, India have now won each of their last four T20Is against Pakistan, equalling their longest such streak against them in the format (four between December 2012 and March 2016).

But there was a personal milestone in the match for Rauf, who has now taken nine wickets against India in the shortest format (figures of 2-26 on Sunday), the outright second most by a Pakistan bowler behind Umar Gul (11).
