Sharma savours emotional Sydney farewell as Kohli partnership seals India win
Rohit Sharma acknowledged "I've always loved coming" to the Sydney Cricket Ground, after delivering a commanding display in India's third Test victory over Australia on what could be his final appearance at the stadium.
The tourists, who fell to a 2-1 series defeat to the Australians, were flying in the third Test, as Rohit and Virat Kohli rolled back the years with an unbroken 168-run stand that carried them to victory.
The SCG has been a special venue in Rohit's career. It was here, back in 2008, that he first made his mark on the international stage during the CB Series final, partnering with Sachin Tendulkar in a memorable chase.
The opener returned to the same ground to compile his 33rd ODI hundred, sealing both the Player of the Match and Player of the Series honours in what could be his farewell act in Australia.

"I enjoy playing cricket here in Australia," he said. "[I have] fond memories of 2008, and [it was] a nice way to finish, getting that knock and getting that win as well.
"I don't know if we'll be coming back to Australia, but it has been fun all these years that we played here. A lot of good memories, bad memories, but all in all, I'll take the cricket that I played here."
During the course of their innings, Rohit and Kohli also reached another milestone, surpassing Kumar Sangakkara and Tillakaratne Dilshan to become the third-most prolific partnership in ODI history with a combined 5,483 runs.
Kohli, who shared a smile and embrace with his captain after the win, reflected on the emotions of rediscovering his touch.
"Good to be out of the pond, honestly," he said. "Even at this stage, almost 37 in not many days, itโs amazing how the game can humble you. Thatโs why we love batting; it challenges you to find your rhythm again."
"When Rohit's already batting there, itโs pretty easy to keep rotating strike," he added. "We understand each otherโs game pretty well, and when weโre together for long enough, any total feels within reach.
"Itโs important that whenever you get an opportunity to play, youโve got to come and start fresh, and thatโs what we did. We enjoy our cricket, no matter what, and thatโs what keeps us going."
