IPL: Titans close in on playoff spots after downing holders RCB
Royal Challengers Bengaluru missed the chance to go top of the Indian Premier League after losing by four wickets to the Gujarat Titans.
The Titans chased down their target of 156 with 25 balls to spare at Narendra Modi Stadium, moving two points off the top four.
Gujarat made a good start with the ball, dismissing RCB openers Jacob Bethell (5) and Virat Kohli (28) inside four overs, and their captain Rajat Patidar (19) followed soon after.
Arshad Khan (3-22) and Rashid Khan (2-19) starred with the ball, but Devdutt Padikkal's 40 off 24 deliveries gave the visitors some hope of an unlikely win.
Shubman Gill (43 off 18) and Jos Buttler (39 off 19) dashed those RCB hopes with the bat, despite a clinical bowling display from Bhuvneshwar Kumar (3-24).
Rahul Tewatia (27 not out) got the Titans over the line, moving them just two points behind RCB in the standings.
Not our night. Still a strong fight.

Data Debrief: Buttler finds his form
After being bowled out for 155, this was the first time in IPL 2026 that RCB lost all of their wickets in a batting innings.
And following a disappointing T20 World Cup campaign with England, Buttler has found his form with the Titans in the IPL.
He hit two fours and four maximums in his quickfire 39 against RCB, scoring a strike rate of 205.3.
