Scottie Scheffler celebrated a "pretty wild" victory after he claimed a four-shot win at the American Express in California.

World number one Scheffler finished well clear of the chasing pack on Sunday to win his 20th PGA Tour event.

Scheffler is the third-fastest player, when it comes to events taken to reach the milestone, and the third youngest to do so.

It marked the American's 151st tournament on the PGA Tour. Tiger Woods won his 20th event in his 95th appearance, while Jack Nicklaus needed 127 to get there.

Rory McIlroy, in 2021, was the last player to achieve the feat.

"It's pretty wild," said Scheffler, who carded a six-under par 66 on Sunday to surpass overnight leader Si-Woo Kim.

"It has been a great start to my career and I've had some nice wins out there. It has been special and I try not to think about that stuff too much.

"Going into the season, I was just trying to do the things I needed to do in order to be prepared to come out and play this week. I'm going to go home, get some rest and kind of rinse and repeat."

The 29-year-old is only the third player, after Woods and Nicklaus, to win four majors and 20 PGA Tour tournaments before turning 30.

Scheffler has also recorded 16 straight top-10 finishes on the PGA Tour.
