Scottie Scheffler revelled in the "cool feeling" of coming from behind to win the PGA Tour Championship on Sunday.

The world number one lifted the FedEx Cup after finishing on 16-under through his four rounds, three shots clear of Viktor Hovland.

Hovland led heading into the final round, but recorded a two-over 72 while Scheffler's four-under 66 took him to top spot.

Scheffler mixed six birdies with two bogeys on his way to victory at East Lake Golf Club, while Rory McIlroy and Ludvig Aberg were part of a group who finished on 11-under in tied fourth.

Scheffler, who also won the Tour Championship in 2024, is just the second player to win the competition twice, after Tiger Woods (2007 and 2009) and McIlroy (2016, 2019 and 2022).

The American has also overtaken Woods ($120.9m) for the most prize money won on Tour, with his $130.4m ending Woods' 25-year reign at the top.

"To come from behind and be able to win the tournament is a really cool feeling," Scheffler said.

"I'm very proud of fighting back and having some good finishes and even giving myself some chances to win with some of those poor starts.

"There were a lot of talented guys in front of me on the leaderboard. I was fortunate to get off to a good start and put myself in the mix.

"It's a gift to be out here on tour. Each and every day I'm going to try to give it my best."

Runner-up Hovland was quick to praise Scheffler, who remained calmed while others struggled in their final round.

"I don't think he [Scheffler] is trying to do too much with it," Hovland said.

"He knows that he's got an edge on most guys out here, so he doesn't have to do anything crazy. He can play smart and just kind of pick his spots, stay in it constantly.

"It wasn't like anybody else really played all that great in contention. That's what you see - a lot of guys just gagging and throwing up. That's where he just stays in it and shoots a nice score and that gets the job done."
