Nuggets head coach Adelman concerned about Jokic injury
Denver Nuggets head coach David Adelman expressed his concerns over Nikola Jokic after the center suffered a knee injury on Monday.
Shortly before half-time in their matchup against the Miami Heat, Jokic went down holding his knee after his Nuggets team-mate, Spencer Jones, stepped on his left foot after a defensive play.
Jokic remained the team’s highest scorer in the 147-123 defeat, scoring 21 points before his injury, while also contributing with eight assists and five rebounds.
The three-time NBA MVP and 2023 Finals MVP is currently averaging 29.6 points, 12.2 rebounds and 11 assists, while shooting 60.5% from the field, for the 2025-26 season.
He recently became the third player in NBA history to record multiple triple-doubles on Christmas Day after a mammoth 56-point, 16-rebound, 15-assist performance against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Adelman admitted it would be hard not to think about the repercussions a long injury to Jokic could have on his side, but insisted his immediate thoughts were on the player’s well-being.
“Immediately, he knew something was wrong,” Adelman said after the game, while also confirming Jokic will undergo an MRI scan on Tuesday.

“Hey, this is part of the NBA. Anybody who gets hurt in this game, it's kind of gut-wrenching, especially somebody as special as he is.
"We'll find out more tomorrow. We'll move on as a team.
“Obviously, right now, I'm more concerned just about him as a person and the disappointment of going through something like that.
“It's just part of this process. You don't get definitive answers right after these things happen.
“I know he's an extremely special player that people want updates on right away; it makes total sense to me. But we'll go through the process properly, for him and for our team.
“Tonight my mind will wander. And it'll wonder about what we have to do going forward if he is out for a while or for a long time.”
