LeBron James' agent, Rich Paul, says his client will not be rushed into a decision over which team he will play for next year.

James informed the Los Angeles Lakers that he would not be staying with them for the 2026-27 season, though he has no intention of ending his playing career.

He has been linked with the Golden State Warriors and a link-up with Stephen Curry, as well as a return to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Last week, NBA commissioner Adam Silver said James' indecision was even holding up the making of next season's NBA schedule, but those comments will not force the 41-year-old's hand.

"We're not going to be rushed," Paul said on the latest podcast episode of "Game Over" with Max Kellerman and Rich Paul.

"We're not going to be rushed. It's his choice to make, and when he makes the choice, he'll make it.

"There have been several people to call and say, 'Hey, Rich, is there anything more we should be doing? We could be doing?'

"And my answer is, 'No. We don't need you to go above and beyond about anything'. We understand it. It's clear. All the messages have been sent."

Last season, James was named to his 22nd NBA All-Star Game, with averages of 20.9 points, 7.2 assists and 6.1 rebounds in 60 matches. 

He is entering free agency ahead of what will be a record-setting 24th NBA season.

It has been three weeks since James left the Lakers, but Paul insists the wait for James to announce his next move is not a ploy to get more people talking.

"I think it's important for people to understand: We're not making this about attention and a spectacle," Paul said.

"It's not about a 'decision' or anything like that. He has a choice to make. He has a business choice to make.

"We're not going to sit here and decide or allow someone else to decide when he makes that decision.

"It's a business choice that he's making. And I think as an athlete, why is it that an athlete has to rush his choice?"
