The Oklahoma City Thunder have traded starting wing and All-Defensive performer Luguentz Dort to the Atlanta Hawks in a three-team swap that sent former No. 1 overall draft pick Zaccharie Risacher to the Dallas Mavericks, multiple media outlets reported on Sunday.

Atlanta is also slated to receive Ryan Nembhard, while the Thunder acquired three protected second-round picks.

Trading Dort is the latest in a series of cost-cutting moves for the Thunder, with Aaron Wiggins and Isaiah Joe also leaving Oklahoma City.

The moves have put the Thunder under the movement-restricting second apron and have saved the franchise approximately $200million in salaries and luxury tax.

Dort was a key contributor to the Thunder winning the 2025 NBA title and had been tied with fellow Canadian Shai Gilgeous-Alexander as the longest-tenured active player in Oklahoma City.

Earlier this offseason, the Thunder picked up the $17.7million team option on Dort’s contract, which will expire at the end of next season.

Dort had been lauded for being with the Thunder throughout the team’s rebuild, enduring last-place seasons early in his career only to see the team grow into a champion.

But Dort’s numbers and offensive efficiency dipped in 2025-26, and his defensive prowess has been less crucial since the acquisition of Alex Caruso and the rise of Cason Wallace.

Dort, who was selected to the All-Defensive First Team in 2024-25, joins an Atlanta backcourt that already features Dyson Daniels and Nickeil Alexander-Walker, as the Hawks appear to pursue a new identity after trading away Trae Young last season.

The Mavericks acquired a young flyer in Risacher, who was the top pick in the draft just two years ago. Risacher averaged a disappointing 9.6 points and 3.8 rebounds last season but is still just 21 years old.
