Las Vegas Aces superstar A'ja Wilson was named the WNBA MVP on Thursday, becoming the first player to win the award in three consecutive seasons.

This also marked the fifth time Wilson was named MVP, having also won the award in 2020 and 2022.

It was another runaway win for Wilson, who received 65 first-place votes and nine second-place votes for a total of 713 points from a panel of sportswriters and broadcasters. Minnesota Lynx rookie Olivia Miles finished second with 442 points (six first-place votes and 40 second-place votes) while Indiana Fever guards Kelsey Mitchell (287 points) and Caitlin Clark (212 points) finished third and fourth.

Wilson led the league in scoring average for a third straight season at 26.2 points per game and in blocks per game (1.9) for the fifth season in a row. Her scoring average ranks as the second-highest single-season average in league history behind her mark of 26.9 points per game from 2024.

The 30-year-old also averaged 9.4 rebounds and 3.2 assists while shooting 52.7 per cent to lead the defending champion Aces to a 31-13 record in the regular season and into the semi-finals for the eighth consecutive season, however, third-seed Las Vegas currently trails the second-seeded Golden State Valkyries 2-0 in the best-of-five series.

No other WNBA player has more than three MVPs, with Sheryl Swoopes, Lisa Leslie and Lauren Jackson all taking home the award on three occasions.
