Nahid Rana was the star of the show for Bangladesh as they defeated Pakistan by eight wickets to start their three-match ODI series.

Rana recorded his maiden five-wicket haul in ODIs as his 5-24 from seven overs helped Bangladesh bowl Pakistan out for just 114 in 30.4 overs.

The fast bowler rattled through Pakistan's new-look top order, dismissing each of the tourists' top five batters as only Sahibzada Farhan (27) made more than 20.

The dangerous duo of Mohammad Rizwan (10) and Salman Agha (5) failed to get going, while Faheem Ashraf's 37 off 47 saw Pakistan at least reach triple figures as Mehidy Hasan Miraz (3-29) caused them trouble.

Pakistan skipper Shaheen Afridi (1-35) managed to remove Saif Hassan (4) in the powerplay during Bangladesh's chase, but Tanzid Hassan (67 not out) and Najmul Hossain Shanto (27) formed an 82-run partnership to quench any worries of defeat.

Litton Das (3 not out) came in to get the hosts over the line, with the win confirmed by a wide ball from Mohammad Wasim (1-24).

Data Debrief: Historic victory for Bangladesh

This was Bangladesh's biggest win by wickets (eight) and balls remaining (209) against Pakistan, while it was also the shortest ODI between the two sides in terms of total overs bowled (45.5).

Rana was on hand to haunt Pakistan again, having also taken four wickets against them in a Test in Rawalpindi in 2024.

Pakistan named four debutants in their lineup for this match, their most since 2008 in ODIs, though it was very much a day to forget for the team.
