India have won their T20I series against Afghanistan with a match to spare following a seven-wicket win in Delhi.

Sanju Samson's rapid half-century propelled India to victory and secured an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.

India won the toss and chose to bowl, and Arshdeep Singh (2-35) made a fast start after dismissing Rahmanullah Gurbaz for a duck.

Ibrahim Zadran (37) settled in at the crease before becoming Nitish Kumar Reddy's (3-24) first victim, with Sediqullah Atal (12) and Gulbadin Naib (10) following in quick succession.

Afghanistan finished on 159-8 after some late hitting from Rashid Khan (28 off 16), but Samson (57 off 22) and Abhishek Sharma (39 off 19) smashed 82 in the powerplay to set India on their way to a comfortable chase.

Despite Khan (3-36) picking up some wickets, Ishan Kishan (38 not out) and Tilak Varma (15 not out) got the hosts over the line with 31 balls remaining.

Samson finds much-needed form

Samson has struggled with injuries as of late, and with Vaibhav Sooryavanshi knocking on the door to open for India, this was an important innings for him.

He recorded his seventh half-century in the shortest format, scoring seven fours and four maximums on this occasion, while it is also his biggest score since the World Cup earlier this year.

It was also an all-round performance from India's bowlers, with five of their six bowlers taking a wicket; Shivam Dube, who bowled only one over, was the only one not to contribute with a wicket.

India have now beaten Zimbabwe and Afghanistan in T20I series since losing 4-0 to England in July, though the Men in Blue will certainly have their eyes set on a series sweep.
