West Indies captain Shai Hope believes their T20I series draw with India shows the progress they have made as a team.

With the five-match series evenly at 2-2 ahead of Saturday's decider, it came to a disappointing end as rain saw the match end in a draw.

The match was initially reduced to a nine-over shootout, and India scored 118-5 in 7.4 overs before the rain came once again, this time ending the contest.

Ishan Kishan scored 30 off 10 before Naman Dhir's unbeaten 24 off 6, while Keemo Paul and Shamar Springer took two wickets each.

Hope was named player of the series, having scored two centuries in the previous four matches, and he was delighted with his side's performance.

"Very close. Haven't won a series here in 20-plus years. To get this far in the series shows what we've done as a unit," said Hope.

"Success doesn't necessarily have to be series wins; to see the way the guys have been progressing has been commendable.

"Bowling front, saw Shamar Springer come in and play crucial role at the back end, wickets and death overs. Keemo Paul similarly; Roston [Chase] has been bowling well.

"The way we play our cricket in general, everyone was chipping in. Pleasing from the bowling side of things."

And on his own performance, Hope added: "Still have to have self-belief; when I cross the line, I still believe I can get the job done.

"My process never changes; try and stay as neutral as I can. Back my abilities."

India captain Shreyas Iyer, meanwhile, believes his side must find more consistency ahead of their five-match series in New Zealand.

"Could've been different [series scoreline] if we'd bowled well in second and fourth game," said Iyer.

"Batting has been sensational; [bowling] execution, we fell short. Credit where due; they batted phenomenally well. Kudos to Shai Hope; he was superb.

"The ability to bounce back even after a loss [among the big plusses]. We weren't able to be consistent throughout, so great learning.

"The way we went about our batting was outstanding. It's going to be a challenging series in New Zealand now."
