Lynx’s Reeve ties WNBA’s wins record

A late scoring spree by Minnesota Lynx star Natasha Howard ensured that Cheryl Reeve would tie the WNBA record for career coaching victories.

Howard scored 10 of her 21 points in the final five minutes and added 14 rebounds and three steals to power the league-best Lynx to an 85-77 win over the Dallas Wings on Sunday.

The win marked the 379th regular-season victory for Reeve, tying her with Mike Thibault for the most in WNBA history.

Olivia Miles also scored 21 points to go along with eight assists, and Kalya McBride had 17 points and made four 3-pointers as Minnesota (15-4) won for the fifth time in six games.

Paige Bueckers had a game-high 25 points on 10-of-17 shooting and Azzi Fudd scored 21 with four 3-pointers and four steals for the Wings (11-8), who dropped to 0-3 against Minnesota this season.

Wilson sets record as Aces beat Sky

A’ja Wilson became the first WNBA player to record 30 points, 15 rebounds, four steals and three blocks in a game to help the Las Vegas Aces defeat the Chicago Sky 107-99.

The four-time league MVP shot 8 of 14 from the floor and 13 of 16 from the free-throw line, Jackie Young contributed 28 points, eight assists and five rebounds, and Chelsea Gray had 18 points, eight assists and six boards for the Aces (14-5).

Kamilla Cardoso and Azura Stevens each scored 24 points for Chicago (6-13), which failed to win its third straight game.

Skylar Diggins added six rebounds and five assists but shot just 2 of 11 from the field.

Surging Valkyries get past slumping Liberty

The Golden State Valkyries remained hot with a 76-67 win over the struggling New York Liberty.

The Valkyries (13-7) recorded their seventh victory in nine games, while the Liberty (12-8) lost for the fourth time in five contests after winning eight in a row.

Golden State used a balanced scoring attack, with seven players having at least eight points.

Kaila Charles led the way with 13 points, Kayla Thornton had 11, and Cecilia Zandalasini and Janelle Salaun each scored 10.

Veronica Burton added eight points to go along with eight assists and six rebounds.

Jonquel Jones had 21 points and seven boards and Breanna Stewart scored 15 for the Liberty, who saw Sabrina Ionescu have an off night with just nine points on 3-of-10 shooting.

Mystics outlast Fire in 4OT marathon

The Washington Mystics held off the expansion Portland Fire 124-123 in four overtimes to match the longest game in WNBA history.

Washington (9-9) went ahead with 21.4 seconds remaining in the fourth OT on a basket by Sonia Citron, who had 32 points, six rebounds and four assists.

The Mystics got 30 points, five boards and five assists from Michaela Onyenwere, while Kiki Iriafen had 27 points, 11 rebounds, six assists and two steals to make Washington the first team in WNBA history to have three players score at least 27 in the same contest.

Portland (8-12) had three players score at least 20 points – Carla Leite (32), Sarah Ashlee Barker (25) and Megan Gustafson (20).

Washington was involved in the only other four-overtime game, a 72-69 win over the Seattle Storm on July 3, 2001.
