Jack Draper has been ruled out of the US Open after failing to recover from a persistent arm injury, meaning he will go through the entire year without playing at a grand slam.

Draper, who was ranked as high as fourth in the world last year, has not played at a major since being forced to withdraw at Flushing Meadows last August.

Having only played 15 matches all year, winning eight and losing seven, the Brit has dropped to 143rd in the ATP Rankings.

The arm issue that caused Draper's US Open withdrawal last year has continued to plague him over the last 12 months, while he also sustained a knee problem in April.

He was dumped out of the Cincinnati Open in the first round last week, losing to Spain's Martin Landaluce in straight sets after also falling at the first hurdle in Canada.

Draper would have had to go through qualifying for the final slam of the year, after being forced to skip the Australian Open, Roland-Garros and Wimbledon.

News of Draper's withdrawal emerged just hours after world number one Jannik Sinner was also confirmed as an absentee for the New York event.

Draper previously reached the US Open semi-finals in 2024, when he was beaten in straight sets by Sinner – the eventual champion that year.
