Aryna Sabalenka bounced back from her early exit from the Canadian Open by breezing past Wang Xinyu at the Cincinnati Open.

Sabalenka was on the end of a shock defeat to Ekaterina Alexandrova in Toronto last week, but she never looked in any danger on Tuesday.

The world number one triumphed 6-1 6-3 in just 54 minutes to ease into a fourth-round meeting with Sara Bejlek.

It was a dominant display from the off from Sabalenka, who only gave up six points across her eight service games.

She also got the better of Wang on the error count, making just five unforced mistakes and smashing 17 winners beyond her opponent.

"To get this win in under an hour [is] an insane result and I'm so happy to be through," said Sabalenka, who is preparing for her attempt at a US Open three-peat.

"I think I really trusted myself and I was going for my shots without overthinking.

"That was the weapon of tonight's match."

Sabalenka brings up half-century as number one

Sabalenka has won three titles this season, but the last of those came back in March at the Miami Open.

Since then, she has not reached a final, and her form over the summer has been particularly patchy.

Yet she was at her clinical, big-hitting best here, dismissing an opponent who had pushed her all the way in their last meeting, in Melbourne in 2022.

Sabalenka did not face a break point as she recorded her 50th career win at WTA 1000 events while ranked as world number one. She joins Iga Swiatek (58) and Serena Williams (104) in achieving that feat.

The 28-year-old holds the best winner-unforced error differential (+82) of any player at WTA 1000 events in 2026, with Linda Noskova (+24) the next-best this season.

Sabalenka has reached a 45th career round of 16 at WTA 1000 events, surpassing Karolina Pliskova (44) for the outright most of any currently active player.
