Ayton 'honored' to make history with perfect Lakers game
Deandre Ayton was "honoured and appreciative" to have put his name in the history books with a perfect game for the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Lakers finished the first half of the NBA regular season with a 110-93 win over the Toronto Raptors, with Ayton starring on his return from a knee issue.
He scored a joint-team-high 25 points, level with Luka Doncic, and also had 13 rebounds and zero turnovers, while going 10-for-10 from the field.
Ayton became the first player in the team's history to score 25+ points on 100% shooting with zero turnovers in a game (since 1977-78).
And he is just the third player in Los Angeles' history to make at least 10 field goals without missing a shot, while also grabbing at least 10 rebounds, after Wilt Chamberlain (in March 1969) and Mitch Kupchak (November 1981).
"That's pretty cool," said Ayton. "I definitely give it up to my team-mates.
"They find me in the easiest spots ever, and I got some easy ones, for sure.
"That's a thing I never even thought I would be a part of. I'm definitely honoured and appreciative, but I love this game, so hopefully I get more of those."

The Lakers are sixth in the Western Conference with a 25-16 record, having bounced back after two consecutive defeats.
Doncic, who made five 3-pointers and dished out seven assists after returning from groin soreness, admitted there is still work for them to do as they prepare for an eight-game road trip.
"Well, it's not a bad record," Doncic said.
"Obviously, it could be better, but sometimes we play like this, and we played against Atlanta [Hawks, in a 141-116 win on Tuesday].
"It gives us a better chance to win. So just got to look at those two games and play like that."
