WNBA: Lynx roll to seventh straight win

Natasha Howard scored 27 points as the WNBA-best Minnesota Lynx defeated the Seattle Storm 88-68 on Saturday to improve to 3-0 in Commissioner’s Cup action and post their seventh consecutive victory.

Howard added five rebounds, three steals and two blocks and Olivia Miles had 19 points, six boards and six assists for the Lynx (9-2), who have won by double digits six times during their seven-game run.

Minnesota also leads the Western Conference standings of the Commissioner’s Cup, the league’s annual in-season competition that features a 49-game schedule from June 1-17.

The teams with the top record from each conference in the tournament will face off in the championship game on June 30.

The Lynx won the Commissioner's Cup in 2024 and lost to the Indiana Fever in the title game last season.

The Storm (3-9), who won the inaugural Commissioner's Cup in 2021, fell to 0-3 in the tournament with their fifth straight loss.

Liberty 83, Fever 75

Breanna Stewart scored 30 points and New York (7-4) clamped down on Caitlin Clark to beat Indiana (5-5) and extend its winning streak to four games.

Stewart hit 18 of 21 free throws to go along with eight rebounds and four steals, while Clark shot 4 of 14 and had 10 points, nine assists and seven boards.

The Liberty own the top Commissioner’s Cup record in the Eastern Conference at 2-0, and 2025 tournament champion Indiana is 1-1.

New York won the Commissioner’s Cup in 2023.

Aces 84, Valkyries 79

A’ja Wilson had 28 points and 14 rebounds, and Jackie Young contributed 27 points, five boards and five assists to lead defending WNBA champion Las Vegas (7-3) past Golden State (6-5).

Chelsea Gray had six assists in the Aces' third win in a row to give her 1,134 with the franchise and move past current Las Vegas coach Becky Hammon (1,133) for the most in club history.

The Aces moved to 2-0 in the West in Commissioner’s Cup action, while Golden State dropped to 1-2.

Las Vegas won the tournament in 2022.

Gabby Williams led the Valkyries with a career-high 27 points.

Dream 109, Mystics 77

Atlanta (7-3) got 19 points and six steals from Rhyne Howard and Angel Reese had 18 points, 17 rebounds and four steals in an easy win over Washington (4-5).

The Dream improved their Commissioner’s Cup record in the East to 2-1 and the Mystics fell to 1-1.

Kiki Iriafen scored a game-high 24 points for Washington and Sonia Citron added 18 points and six assists.
