The Ashes: England 'staring down the barrel of defeat', says Crawley
Zak Crawley says England are "staring down the barrel" of defeat to Australia after another collapse on day four of the third Ashes Test.
Australia began the day with a 356-run advantage before setting the tourists a target of 435.
England then reached stumps at 207-6, needing 228 runs on the final day if they want to deny Australia a comprehensive 11-day series victory.
England stumbled at the end of the day, losing their final three wickets on Saturday for just 17 runs, with Nathan Lyon the star for Australia.
He dismissed Harry Brook (30) and Ben Stokes (five) before Crawley fell at the end, with his top score of 85 stopped when he was stumped by Alex Carey.
"It's disappointing," he told TNT Sports. "We came here to win the Ashes, and we're staring down the barrel now.
"There'll still be plenty to play for [in Melbourne and Sydney], and we'll definitely view it like that."

England's batters have struggled in the series, with Crawley joining Stokes as one of just two players in the team with multiple scores of 50-plus in this Ashes series.
"They've bowled very well, and haven't given us a lot," Crawley said.
"You look at [Scott] Boland, just as one of them. He just very rarely misses, and so it's hard to play that way that we have in the past, perhaps.
"They have to get credit for that, there, and they set good fields, in fairness to them.
"It's just an attritional style of cricket over here, and they don't allow it. It's not as easy to score quickly out here.
"They're the best bowling attack that I've played against, for sure – especially in these conditions, when it was spinning like that for Lyon. They don't give you anything, they make the ball move, and they're relentless.
"We knew that coming in. We knew we had to be at our best, and unfortunately, we've been just short of that. But in fairness to them, they've been phenomenal for the last three games."
