Anderson confident England can regain Ashes in 2027
James Anderson is confident England can regain the Ashes in 2027, despite their poor showing in Australia.
England succumbed to a 4-1 defeat Down Under in the most-recent Ashes series, with the team coming under heavy criticism after their dismal results.
The series was lost after just 11 days of action, though they did claim their first Test win on Australian soil since 2011 to avoid a whitewash.
There was also noise surrounding England off the field, with suggestions that poor planning and discipline led to the heavy defeat.
England have failed to win the Ashes since 2015, losing three and drawing two of the following five series.
But Anderson, whose 704 Test wickets are an England record, is confident that their wait will not stretch past 2027.
"Obviously, I think Ashes series are huge, and everyone gets judged," said Anderson.
"We've seen the backlash of losing in Australia quite heavily.
"I thought they had a great chance of causing an upset or winning, certainly, out in Australia. I still feel like they've got a great chance of winning in England, as well."
“I believe we have a group of players that can really take English Cricket forward.”

Head coach Brendon McCullum and captain Ben Stokes were also put under pressure, with the ECB conducting a thorough review of England's performance in the Ashes.
It was decided that the duo, along with Rob Key, would keep their positions going forward, with ECB chief executive Richard Goul saying that sacking McCullum would have been “the easy thing to do”.
"They've decided that that's the right way to go," Anderson added when asked if England had been right to retain the trio.
"We've seen it in the past where people have lost their jobs after the Ashes series and maybe knee-jerk reactions to what that is."
