Zimbabwe claimed a stunning 23-run victory over Australia to throw Group B wide open at the T20 World Cup.

Blessing Muzarabani took a career-best 4-17 as Zimbabwe made it two wins from two, with Australia now under huge pressure for their crunch clash against co-hosts Sri Lanka on Monday.

Australia never got going in Colombo, with Zimbabwe opener Brian Bennett setting the tone with an unbeaten 64.

Tadiwanashe Marumani and Ryan Burl chipped in with 35 each before Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza, who later had to limp off the field due to cramp during Australia's batting innings, adding a quickfire 25 from 13 balls to guide the underdogs to a hugely impressive 169-2 on a sluggish wicket.

Zimbabwe took that momentum into Australia's chase, with Muzarabani striking in the second over as he dismissed Josh Inglis (8).

Cameron Green (0) and Aussie captain Travis Head (17) followed to Brad Evans (3-23), either side of Muzarabani snagging Tim David for a duck in a hugely damaging powerplay for Australia.

Glenn Maxwell (31) and Matt Renshaw (65) offered some middle-order resistance, but Burl (1-9) bowled the former to leave Australia on 106-5 with 34 balls remaining.

Marcus Stoinis (6) and Ben Dwarshuis (6) offered little help but Renshaw kept Australia in it, and they entered the final two overs needing an ambitious, but not impossible, 34 to win.

Yet Muzarabani lured a looping shot out of Renshaw to end his 44-ball innings, with Adam Zampa (2) sent packing two balls later, and Zimbabwe's stunning triumph was wrapped up when Matthew Kuhnemann (0) was run out by Evans.

Data Debrief: Ton up for Muzarabani

Not only did Zimbabwe's star performer take career-best figures, but he also brought up his 100th T20I wicket to cap a brilliant day.

He is the third player to hit the milestone for Zimbabwe, after Raza (103) and Richard Ngavara (111).

To go with his 35 runs, his wicket and a run out, Burl took two catches, taking him to 54 overall in T20Is, which is a new national record (ahead of Raza's 53).

This marked Zimbabwe's second win from as many matches against Australia at this event. They also beat them in the inaugural T20 World Cup back in 2007.
