Surging Spurs beat Thunder for second time in 10 days
The San Antonio Spurs once again bested the Oklahoma City Thunder, pulling away for a 130-110 win over the defending NBA champions on Tuesday in a matchup between the top two teams in the Western Conference.
Keldon Johnson had 25 points and Stephon Castle added 24 for the Spurs, who outscored the Thunder 43-28 in the fourth quarter to extend their season-high winning streak to seven games - their longest since a nine-game run in 2018-19. Their current win streak includes a 111-109 victory over the Thunder in an NBA Cup semifinal game in Las Vegas on December 13.
The Thunder, who are 0-2 against San Antonio this season and 26-2 against everyone else, won't have to wait long for an opportunity at revenge, as they'll host the Spurs (22-7) on Christmas.
The first half of this home-and-home was a back-and-forth contest featuring 15 lead changes and 13 ties before San Antonio pulled away for its 14th victory in 17 games.

It wasn't all perfect for the Spurs, however, as Victor Wembanyama's streak of consecutive games with at least one block ended at 101 contests. Wembanyama, who was uncertain to play due to his injured calf, finished with 12 points, five rebounds and three assists in 23 minutes off the bench.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had 33 points for Oklahoma City (26-4), which is suddenly struggling with three losses in five games following its incredible 24-1 start.
Flagg's near triple-double helps Mavericks edge Nuggets
Two days after turning 19, Cooper Flagg had a breakout performance in leading the Dallas Mavericks to a 131-130 win over the visiting Denver Nuggets.
Flagg made his first seven field goal attempts and finished with 33 points, nine rebounds and nine assists for the Mavericks (12-19), who won a fifth straight home game after starting the season 4-9 in Dallas. Anthony Davis added 31 points, nine boards and four assists, making this the first time in franchise history the Mavericks had two players finish with 30 or more points, nine or more rebounds and four or more assists in the same game.

With his career-high fourth 3-pointer, Flagg put the Mavs up 126-121 with 3:17 remaining and just over two minutes later, he assisted on Naji Marshall's corner 3 to give Dallas a 131-125 lead.
Following a Jamal Murray 3-pointer and a Nikola Jokić turnaround hook shot, the Nuggets (21-8) had a chance to win it, but Peyton Watson's 3-point attempt at the buzzer rolled out and Denver's 11-game road winning streak come to an end.
Murray had 31 points and 14 assists, while Jokić finished with 29 points, 14 assists and seven rebounds. The seven boards matched a season low for Jokić, who entered Tuesday leading the NBA in rebounding with an average of 12.1 per game.
Early in the fourth quarter, Cam Johnson suffered an apparent right knee injury on a non-contact play and left the game. Denver coach David Adelman said he will have an MRI.
Timberwolves top Knicks for first win over Towns
Former teammates Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns put on a scoring show, but it was Edwards' Minnesota Timberwolves who came away with a victory, beating Towns' New York Knicks 115-104.
Edwards scored 38 points on 15-of-27 shooting, as the Timberwolves (20-10) earned their first win over Towns since the team traded him to the Knicks prior to the start of last season. They had lost their first two games against New York with Towns in the lineup.

Towns had a season-high 40 points in his second game back in Minnesota but fouled out in the final minute and the Knicks lost for the second time in three games following a season-high six-game winning streak.
New York (20-9) was playing without Jalen Brunson, who was resting his previously injured right ankle.
The Wolves won for the 10th time in 12 games with Julius Randle stepping up late, scoring 17 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter. Rudy Gobert added 11 points, 16 rebounds and blocked three shots.
Both teams will be back on the court on Christmas, with the Knicks opening the NBA's quintuple-header against the visiting Cleveland Cavaliers and the Timberwolves visiting the Nuggets in the finale.
