Chicago Bulls guard Josh Giddey conceded that they need to work on the defensive side of their game after their 152-150 win over the Atlanta Hawks.

It was just the eighth time in NBA history that both teams have scored at least 150 points in a game that ended in regulation time, and just the third time in the last 35 seasons.

Matas Buzelis scored a season-high 28, shooting seven for eight from beyond the arc (88%), while Giddey contributed with 19 points, 12 assists, nine rebounds and two steals.

Nine Bulls players scored at least 10 points in the win, marking just the fourth time that has happened in their franchise history.

However, 36 points for Jalen Johnson and 35 for Trae Young at the other end highlighted the Bulls’ defensive frailties.

Giddey insisted that the Bulls will not accept their current defensive displays, but believes their offensive performances will be key to winning games this season.

“It probably was [our best offensive game as a team]. Probably our worst defensive [game] as well,” Giddey said post-match.

“Scoring 150, you’re going to win most nights, [but] they scored 150 as well.

“It was one of those nights, both teams played extremely fast up and down the floor. We’ll watch film and see what we need to get better at.

“But offensively when we have nine guys in double figures, that’s kind of the recipe for us how to win games.”
