The New York Knicks apparently are holding out for a different championship.

The Knicks won't hang a championship banner to celebrate their NBA Cup title, according to multiple reports on Wednesday.

New York defeated the San Antonio Spurs 124-113 on Tuesday in Las Vegas to win the NBA's in-season tournament, but the team is reportedly focused on bigger goals and won't commemorate its latest achievement with a banner hanging from the rafters at Madison Square Garden.

The first two NBA Cup champions, the Los Angeles Lakers and Milwaukee Bucks, both hung banners inside their home arenas.

The Knicks will celebrate their NBA Cup championship on Friday prior to hosting the Philadelphia 76ers in what will be their first home game since claiming their title.

The NBA Cup championship is the first title of any kind for the Knicks since capturing the Atlantic Division crown in 2012-13.

It's been 53 years since New York won its last NBA title back in 1973, and the team is motivated to end that championship drought.
