Jannik Sinner is hopeful Carlos Alcaraz will be able to compete at Roland-Garros.

World number two Alcaraz is unsure if he will be fit enough to feature at the French Open, where he is the reigning champion, due to a wrist injury.

Alcaraz pulled out of the Barcelona Open and has already withdrawn from the Madrid Open, with the Italian Open looking unlikely for the Spaniard, too.

Sinner lost an epic Roland-Garros final to Alcaraz last year, and he wants to see his great rival back in action quickly.

"He is going through a difficult moment," Sinner told Sky Sports Italia at the Laureus World Sports Awards.

"We hope to see him again soon on the courts, maybe already in Rome.

"As a competitor, I hope he can also be there at Roland-Garros, because when you want to win, you want to do it by beating the best, and he is among them."

Sinner would complete the career Grand Slam if he triumphs at Roland-Garros.

Alcaraz holds a 10-7 record against Sinner, with the latter having beat the seven-time grand slam champion to win the Monte-Carlo Masters last month.
