Jannik Sinner became the first player to win the Sunshine Double without dropping a set as he beat Jiri Lehecka to claim the Miami Open title.

Sinner triumphed 6-4 6-4 in a weather-delayed final in Florida, adding to his title at Indian Wells from earlier in the month.

Lehecka, competing in an ATP Masters 1000 final for the first time, had not conceded his serve in Miami prior to the showpiece match, but he was broken early on in the opening set on Sunday.

Staying perfect behind his first serve, Sinner closed out the first set with ease and carried the momentum into the second, completing victory in just 93 minutes.

"It means a lot to me. [Winning] the Sunshine Double for the first time, it's incredible," Sinner said.

"It's something I never would’ve thought [to win] because it's difficult to achieve. We made it somehow, so I'm very happy."

Sinner is now 19-2 for the season, while he has won a remarkable 34 consecutive sets at ATP Masters 1000 events.

Data Debrief: Sinner's scintillating Sunshine Swing

While history belongs to Sinner as he became the first man or woman to win the Sunshine Double without dropping a set, he also joined an illustrious group of names to win both titles.

When counting male players only, Sinner joins Jim Courier, Michael Chang, Pete Sampras, Marcelo Rios, Andre Agassi, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic in achieving the feat.

Sinner is the first male player to do so since Federer in 2017, with the Swiss having triumphed in both California and Miami in the same season on three occasions. Djokovic did it four times.

The Italian is the third player to win his first seven ATP Masters 1000 titles on a single surface, after Chang and Andy Murray, who both also did so on hard courts.
