Elena Rybakina claimed her 10th career WTA Tour-level title after coming from behind to beat Ekaterina Alexandrova in the Ningbo Open final.

The world number nine recovered from losing the opening set to prevail 3-6 6-0 6-2 in just under two hours.

Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon champion, was slow out of the blocks in her 21st career final at Tour level.

Indeed, Alexandrova broke at the first attempt and went on to see out the opening set, in what was her third final appearance in as many months.

But, looking to go one better having been runner-up to Diana Shnaider in Monterrey and Iga Swiatek in Seoul, she was powerless from then on as Rybakina found another gear.

A victor in Strasbourg this season, the Kazakh reeled off 12 of the next 14 games – including nine of the spin – to soar to her second title of 2025.

Data Debrief: Double figures for Rybakina

Rybakina became the 10th active player to reach double figures in terms of WTA titles, moving level with Madison Keys and Elise Mertens on 10.

She still has a chance of qualifying for the WTA Finals, though she must reach at least the semi-finals in the Pan Pacific Open to leapfrog Mirra Andreeva and secure her place.

It was also Rybakina's third straight victory in a WTA final, following her triumphs in Strasbourg in May, and Stuttgart 13 months earlier.
