Cade Cunningham had 24 points, 11 rebounds and six assists, Caris LeVert added 19 points off the bench and the Detroit Pistons beat the Indiana Pacers 122-117 on Monday.

The victory was Detroit’s 13th in a row, tying the franchise’s longest winning streak.

The Pistons will have the opportunity to claim the team record outright when they conclude a four-game road trip in Boston on Wednesday, versus the Celtics.

Detroit led by as many as 19 on Monday, but Indiana closed the gap to 120-117 before Bennedict Mathurin missed the potential game-tying 3-point attempt with 11 seconds remaining.

The winning streak has vaulted the Pistons to the top of the Eastern Conference standings at 15-2 and trailing only the 17-1 Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA.

Jalen Duren had another productive night for Detroit with 17 points, 12 rebounds and three blocked shots. Jaden Ivey had 12 points in under 12 minutes in his second game back from a knee injury that forced him to miss the rest of the season.

The loss dropped the Pacers to 2-15 this season. Pascal Siakam led the way with 24 points and eight rebounds, while Jarace Walker chipped in 21 points off the bench.

Raptors get statement win, extend streak

Brandon Ingram scored a season-high 37 points, Scottie Barnes contributed with an all-round game and the Toronto Raptors beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 110-99, extending their winning streak to eight games.

It was Toronto’s sixth double-digit win during the streak and their second over Cleveland.

Barnes finished with 18 points, 11 rebounds and six assists, and fan-favourite Sandro Mamukelashvili had 12 points and nine rebounds.

The Cavaliers led by eight points early on, but the Raptors’ defence held them to 45 points in the second half and under 42% shooting all game.

After starting the season 1-4, Toronto have moved up to second in the East at 13-5.

Cleveland were held under 100 points for the first time this season, falling to 12-7.

The Cavs’ starting backcourt struggled offensively, with Donovan Mitchell and Lonzo Ball combining to shoot 9 of 35 from the field and 5 for 24 from 3-point range. Mitchell was Cleveland’s high-point man with 17.

Herro helps Heat in season debut

Tyler Herro scored an efficient 24 points in his season debut, and the Miami Heat recorded their fifth straight victory, downing the Dallas Mavericks 106-102.

Herro had missed the Heat’s first 17 games with injuries to his left ankle and foot but looked sharp, shooting 12 for 18 from the field and adding seven rebounds.

Kel’el Ware finished with 20 points, 18 rebounds and three blocked shots, and Bam Adebayo scored 17 points as the Heat improved to 12-6.

The Heat won despite shooting 5 for 27 from 3-point range. It was Miami’s first win with five or fewer 3-pointers made since 2018.

PJ Washington led the Mavs with 27 points and eight rebounds, while Daniel Gafford finished with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Rookie Cooper Flagg had 12 points and seven rebounds.
