Minnesota Lynx star Napheesa Collier will have surgery on both of her ankles and is expected to be sidelined four to six months, the Unrivaled league announced on Thursday.

Unrivaled is a 3-on-3 women's basketball league co-founded by Collier with fellow WNBA star Breanna Stewart.

Collier will miss the entire Unrivaled season, which begins Monday, and possibly some of the 2026 WNBA season, which traditionally begins in mid-May.

Collier, a four-time WNBA All-Star and the 2024 WNBA Defensive Player of the Year, sprained her right ankle on August 2 and missed seven games before returning August 24. She then suffered ligament tears in her left ankle and a muscle in her left shin in the final seconds of Minnesota's loss to the Phoenix Mercury in Game 3 of the semifinals on September 26.

Over the last few months, she had been rehabbing the ankle injuries with hopes of playing in the Unrivaled season, but the league announced a "joint team of medical staff" determined surgery would be necessary.

Collier was named an All-WNBA First Team selection for the third time in 2025 after averaging a career-high 22.9 points with 7.3 rebounds, 1.6 steals and 1.5 blocks, ranking second in the league in scoring, third in steals and fifth in blocks per game.

She shot 53.1% from the floor, 40.3% from 3-point range and 90.6% from the foul line to become the first player in WNBA history to reach the 50/40/90 thresholds while averaging at least 20 points.
